Coach Murdock is an RMAX Head Coach and Senior Editor of CST Magazine, the internet’s largest fitness and martial arts publication.
He is the creator and star of RMAX Powered Bujinkan Volume One - GPP, and the author of the upcoming RMAX Training Group Manual. He has been involved in martial arts for the past 19 years, and strength training for the past 22 years.
Coach Murdock brings an eclectic approach to coaching that stems from a wide-ranging martial art and strength training background. In an interview for CST Magazine Volume 3 Issue 8, he briefly summarized his coaching philosophy:
“I believe that each individual holds within them the seeds of their own personal mastery. My job as a coach is to help them to uncover that mastery. Not to “teach” them, but to “coach” them. It’s a subtle difference. Teaching involves transmitting what I want to transmit; coaching involves being responsive to what the individual needs to learn. It’s extremely challenging and it requires you to stand back and listen rather than foster your own agenda. It’s the only way to assist individuals to uncover the unique mastery that is already within them.”
In addition to his work for RMAX, Coach Murdock is a published travel writer. This pursuit has taken him to 27 countries (and counting) including Mongolia, Nicaragua, and North Korea, by Russian jeep, motorcycle, dugout canoe, horse and camel. He has a keen interest in marginal regions, in nomadic peoples, and in places where cultures meet and sometimes clash. He is a regular contributor to Outpost Magazine, Canada’s national travel magazine, and is hard at work on the first in a string of projected books.
“Ryan Murdock is one of the top coaches in the world, a fact that his humility of application conceals but that his diligence, perspicacity and consistent results with clients around the world proves undeniable!” Coach Scott Sonnon, CST™ Founder and Director
